Karl-Matthias has over 15 years of international experience in MedTech commercial leadership, having held senior roles at IRRAS, Kyphon B.V.B.A. (Medtronic), and other neurology-focused companies. He holds an MSc in Biochemistry (University of Hanover), an MBA in Economics, and a Master of Public Health (University of Graz), and joined Aleva as Head of Client Relations to lead investor and partner engagement.

Alain has 20+ years’ experience in developing and manufacturing active implantable devices; Alain served as COO at EndoArt and became Site Director after Allergan’s 2007 acquisition. Alain holds an MS in Microengineering (EPFL) and a Postgraduate Degree in Biomedical Engineering (EPFL, Lausanne University and Geneva University) and Alain joined Aleva in 2011.

André founded Aleva in 2008 following doctoral research on neurological implants at EPFL. André holds a BS in Engineering Physics (University of Toronto), an MS in Management Science (Stanford), and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (EPFL); before Aleva, André worked at MIT’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Zyvex (TX), and Bosch Research (Silicon Valley) and now brings 20+ years’ experience leading MEMS-based directional neuro-implant innovation.
Claudio is a leading neurosurgeon in DBS and movement disorders, including Parkinson’s, and since 2012 Claudio has served as Deputy Chief of Neurosurgery at Inselspital. Claudio trained at CHUV and internationally, holds a Biomedical Engineering qualification from EPFL, has 100+ publications, and conducts SNSF- and CTI-supported research on DBS modelling and brain modulation.

Patrick joined the Board in 2016 and has over 25 years of experience as an investment professional across technology and medical sectors. As Chairman of Kinled Holding, Patrick is a member of the Swiss Corporate Finance and Private Equity Association and the Swiss Finance and Technology Association. His investments include PreComb Therapeutics, Araris Biotech, ImCheck Therapeutics, LAVA Therapeutics, and Artiria Medical.
